Spring 2012 Marketplace :: May 6

Alright…2012 is here and it’s time to get ready for a Spring Marketplace!

The 2012 Spring Homespun Chic Marketplace will include approximately 45 vendors and feature the best handmade retail that Central Florida has to offer. The event will be held on Sunday, May 6 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at Home Builders Association of Metro Orlando in Maitland. The Marketplace will be held rain or shine.

If you’re interested in being a vendor, please contact us or leave a comment here with your email address. We’ll be happy to email you the details, instructions, etc as well as a layout of the building and porch. As spots are paid for, approved and taken, we will designate that appropriately on the map.

Previous vendors will benefit from a lower rate for space. New vendors will pay a higher rate for their first show with us and will also need to submit 3 photos of their work to a review panel.

All reservations will be considered in the order they are received–first applied, first approved, first paid. Although previous vendors will not need to be considered by the review panel, they will not receive preference over new vendors. Space will be filled on a first applied, first approved, first paid basis.

Other fun tidbits:

  • Once again, we’ll offer a way for folks to win gift certificates to be spent at the Marketplace. Details will be posted right here on our site.
  • We are working to secure two or three of Central Florida’s popular food trucks to sell yummy treats just outside the venue. We’ll announce those as they confirm with us.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please let us know! Feel free to share this with other handmade artisans that you know. We’re looking forward to partnering with you to bring the best of handmade retail to Central Florida through Homespun Chic Marketplace!

Holiday 2011 Vendor Feature: PAPERLY

Paperly
shop

I am so excited to introduce Paperly to the Central Florida area. Since I was a little girl, I’ve been passionate about stationery. Yep, I was the girl who had dozens of different writing paper and note cards – my stationery was an extension of my wardrobe! While I may have grown older, my passion for fantastic stationery designs hasn’t changed and it has now extended to a passion for strengthening personal connections. Paperly offers me the perfect opportunity to bring these two passions together.  Paperly offers a wide variety of designs – fun or formal, feminine or kid-friendly – to express just the right sentiment. And we are much more than paper…our personalized gifts are perfect for any occasion. Holidays, Family and Friends, Teachers, Coaches…whatever your need, I can help you find the perfect unique and memorable gift!

What’s the #1 played song on your iPod? Superwoman – Alicia Keys (it’s my Mom theme song!)

What is one of your favorite quotes, song lyrics or Bible verses?  I collect quotes, so this is really hard!  Favorite quote is “I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they’re right… and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.” — Marilyn Monroe

Favorite Bible Verse – Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Besides crafting, what other things do you like to do? Spending time with my husband Stephen, two daughters (Stephanie, age 8 and Gracie, age 4) and Rascal, our Cocker Spaniel; shopping; reading

If you had to only work on one project for the next year, what would it be?  Organizing my house!

What are you most looking forward to about the Homespun Chic Holiday Marketplace?  It’s my first time, so I am really looking forward to introducing Paperly and learning from the other vendors

What’s your favorite holiday beverage at Starbucks? (And, are you a fan of the red cups?!)  Non Fat, No Whip Peppermint Mocha and I love the red cups!

What’s your favorite Christmas tradition?  We host a gingerbread house and cookie decorating party each year with a small group of friends.  This will be our 3rd year and I’m not sure who has more fun – the kids or the adults!

Holiday 2011 Vendor Feature: DALLA LUNA

Dalla Luna
shop | blog

Hi! *waves* I’m Crystal, a SAHM to two.  I grew up watching my mom create amazing things but never made anything of my own until my daughter was born. My daughter no longer lets me dress her up but I still like creating fun outfits during holidays & special occasions, and you’ll find some of these creations in my Etsy store! I am also an avid reader & review books on my blog, Reading Between the Wines, which led to creating hand-beaded bookmarks & jewelry. I love being inspired by a great book to create something fun!

Get To Know Crystal of Dalla Luna

What’s the #1 played song on your iPod? Well, I don’t have an iPod but I have other fun devices! Lol My #1 song right now is Staind “Not Again.”

Besides crafting, what other things do you like to do? As I said above, I am an avid reader and I run my own book blog which is more time consuming then I originally thought LoL! I review the books I read but also have authors drop by almost daily, run weekly features and giveaways, and I love being able to read the books I am anticipating most before they even get on store shelves!

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? I would love to learn how to make my own soap!

What’s your favorite Christmas tradition? Loading up the kids in the car to see the live nativity scene a local church does every year.

Holiday 2011 Vendor Feature: TWO FLORIDA GIRLS

Two Florida Girls
shop | facebook

We are two sisters, born and raised in the Sunshine State. We love our God, our family and our home state. :) We hope you find something that makes you smile and think of sun-filled days! Our items are great as fun, affordable gifts for family, friends, kids, coworkers, teachers, coaches…or heck, even yourself!

We opened our shop almost three years ago after Kati (the sewer) made Amy (the computer girl) a coffee cozy for her birthday. Amy said, “I love these! We could sell them!” And the rest, as they say, is history. Since then, we’ve developed new products and have expanded beyond the coffee cozy. In addition to our first item, we now create gadget cozies, bean bags, onesies, shirts and hair clips. And, see that adorable little blond up there? She’s sporting our newest product–messy ruffle headbands!

We’ve participated in Homespun Chic Marketplace since the first show last fall and we’re now coordinating the show. We’re excited to see you there and look forward to meeting everyone!

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? Play the violin. :)

What’s your favorite Central Florida Food Truck? So far, Yum Yum Truck! I can’t wait to try more though!

What’s your favorite Central Florida attraction/landmark/sight? Disney World! I love how magical it is. It is even better now going there with my children. :)

What’s your favorite crafting snack? Anything that is easy to eat and not messy. Usually I only “snack” on Dr Pepper while crafting though!

Get To Know Amy of Two Florida Girls

What’s the #1 played song on your iPod? iTunes doesn’t lie and it says I’ve played “You Are The Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne 77 times, making that the #1 song in my iTunes. :)

Besides crafting, what other things do you like to do? Spend time with my family and friends; Spoil my “favorites” (my niece & nephew); Bake; Train for running races

What’s your favorite Central Florida attraction/landmark/sight? The beach…and more specifically, our family’s beach house! Disney comes in a close second. :)

What’s something you’ve done that you think no other vendor has done? Competed on Nickelodeon’s Family Double Dare and Guts!

Holiday 2011 Vendor Feature: AUTUMN & EVERYTHING AFTER

Autumn & Everything After
shop

Kasey is the creative brain behind Autumn & Everything After. All of her items are great for accessorizing any home, office, party or fun-loving girl! She creates fun, one-of-a-kind accessories for all seasons, event and occasions. From hand-painted banners and burlap pillows to chic tote bags and yarn wreaths, you are sure to find something to love.

Autumn & Everything After officially started when Kasey began posting pictures of her personal seasonal home decor on Facebook. Her friends (and their friends) fell in love and asked her how much she was selling the beauties for. With much coercion from her friends, she opened her Etsy shop. Autumn & Everything After has been featured at all three Homespun Chic Marketplace events and she’s looking forward to seeing you on Sunday, October 9.

Get To Know Kasey of Autumn & Everything After

What is one of your favorite quotes, song lyrics or Bible verses? “Learn the scripture, love the author, live and die for both.”

What’s your favorite crafting snack? Popcorn & M&M’s with a Diet Coke.

Besides crafting, what other things do you like to do? I am a huge fan of blogs, however I, myself am not a blogger.  My favorite day is Thursday because that is when one of my all time favorite blogs (www.theshabbycreekcottage.com) has a linky party.  I love seeing what other projects fellow “crafters” are working on.  I also admit I have a slight obsession with Pinterest.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? I would like to learn how to do graphic design and maybe take a course in Adobe Illustrator.

If you had to only work on one project for the next year, what would it be? I’d love to finish my gallery wall in my house…I have it all “pinned out”…I just need to make it happen.  I’d also like to make a pendant light made out of burlap.

What are you most looking forward to about the Homespun Chic Holiday Marketplace? Meeting other vendors and checking out all the other great items that will be showcased this year. I am also looking forward to another new venue.

What’s your favorite Central Florida attraction/landmark/sight? Does Hobby Lobby count?

What’s something you’ve done that you think no other vendor has done? I have painted an entire wall in my home office with black chalkboard paint.  I thought, I will either love it or hate it.  If I love it then its worth the leap, if I hate it, its nothing that 10 coats of primer can’t fix.
