Holiday 2012 Vendor Feature: AUTUMN & EVERYTHING AFTER

Autumn & Everything After
shop

Kasey is the creative brain behind Autumn & Everything After. You may have heard of people refer to her as “The Burlap Lady.” All of her items are great for accessorizing any home, office, party or fun-loving girl! She creates fun, one-of-a-kind accessories for all seasons, event and occasions. From hand-painted banners and burlap pillows to chic tote bags and yarn wreaths, you are sure to find something to love.

Autumn & Everything After officially started when Kasey began posting pictures of her personal seasonal home decor on Facebook. Her friends (and their friends) fell in love and asked her how much she was selling the beauties for. With much coercion from her friends, she opened her Etsy shop. Autumn & Everything After has been featured at all five Homespun Chic Marketplace events and she’s looking forward to seeing you on Sunday, December 9.

Get To Know Kasey of Autumn & Everything After

What is one of your favorite quotes, song lyrics or Bible verses? “Learn the scripture, love the author, live and die for both.”

What’s your favorite crafting snack? Popcorn & M&M’s with a Diet Coke.

Besides crafting, what other things do you like to do? I am a huge fan of blogs, however I, myself am not a blogger.  My favorite day is Thursday because that is when one of my all time favorite blogs (www.theshabbycreekcottage.com) has a linky party.  I love seeing what other projects fellow “crafters” are working on.  I also admit I have a slight obsession with Pinterest.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? I would like to learn how to do graphic design and maybe take a course in Adobe Illustrator.

If you had to only work on one project for the next year, what would it be? I’d love to finish my gallery wall in my house…I have it all “pinned out”…I just need to make it happen.  I’d also like to make a pendant light made out of burlap.

What are you most looking forward to about the Homespun Chic Holiday Marketplace? Meeting other vendors and checking out all the other great items that will be showcased this year. I am also looking forward to another new venue.

What’s your favorite Central Florida attraction/landmark/sight? Does Hobby Lobby count?

What’s something you’ve done that you think no other vendor has done? I have painted an entire wall in my home office with black chalkboard paint.  I thought, I will either love it or hate it.  If I love it then its worth the leap, if I hate it, its nothing that 10 coats of primer can’t fix.

Hello! My name is Katie and I started Handmade by KP in the fall of 2011. I began sewing after I received my mother’s sewing machine as a Christmas gift and once I started sewing, I couldn’t stop. I’ve sewn everything from quilts to aprons to shower curtains. I love searching out cute and modern fabric and making highly functional items with a little flair. My little shop started as an outlet for my love for sewing, but has quickly become a source of great joy and passion.

Besides crafting, what other things do you like to do? I love to read. Reading has been my sweet companion throughout my entire life. When my life is hectic, I know that I can always escape to my books. And because of this love for reading, I have an unnatural love for any and all book stores. The hubby has gotten tired of my dashing into book stores and then spending an hour searching for the right book to buy!

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? Speak Italian! It’s the language of my heritage and I think it’s beautiful! Now…if only I had the patience and the aptitude to learn!

What are you most looking forward to about the Homespun Chic Holiday Marketplace? I LOVE to see local creative talent, so I can’t wait to see what the other folks in Central Florida selling!

What’s the #1 played song on your iPod? Right now? I’m obsessed with the new Train songs (peppy for getting things done, like dreaded housework!) and anything folksy like Mumford & Sons. I love to brew some tea, turn on my folksy Pandora station, and get my sew on.
What’s your favorite holiday beverage at Starbucks? (And, are you a fan of the red cups?!) Peppermint Mocha. So delicious and minty. And I’m down with the red cups. They’re so festive!

What’s your favorite crafting snack? I would say my favorite crafting snack is a glass of wine. I work a full time job, so I do most of my sewing in the evening. So, after dinner, I settle in with my sewing machine and my glass of wine. Great combo, right?

Besides crafting, what other things do you like to do? I love to read. Reading has been my sweet companion throughout my entire life. When my life is hectic, I know that I can always escape to my books. And because of this love for reading, I have an unnatural love for any and all book stores. What’s the last great book you read? A Thousand Splendid Suns, by Khaled Hosseini. Hands down. It’s a book of inner strength and survival. Tragic and beautiful. It is the best book I have read in years and it pierces the soul in a way that few books do.

SPRING 2012 Vendor Feature: Daddy’s Button Shirt

Daddy’s Button Shirt

After being an elementary school media specialist for 35 years, I am enjoying retirement and working on projects that I always wanted to make. I focus on reusing items such as men’s shirts and wool sweaters, making them into bags, scarves, stuffed animals and children’s clothing. My husband works on a tugboat and our 2 children are grown, so it is usually just the dog and me at home. I enjoy learning new techniques and staying busy with my projects. I can’t wait for the show since this is my first time as a vendor!

Besides crafting, what other things do you like to do? I read at least a book a week.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? Play the piano or banjo.

If you had to only work on one project for the next year, what would it be? Probably a major knitting project like an afghan made with gorgeous koigu yarn.

What’s something you’ve done that you think no other vendor has done? Visited Japan for 3 weeks on a Japanese Fulbright Memorial Fund educational scholarship.
