Spring 2012 Vendor Feature: Saee Designs

Saee Designs
shop | facebook

Hi there. It’s Tiffany Brassard of Saee Designs and Emma’s Pettis. I have included three photos–one is my family: my inspiration and my reasons for needing a hobby. LOL! And I included a picture of my jewelry display and one of my pettis in action!

I started making jewelry about 8 years ago when I saw a necklace in a movie and really, really wanted it. I found it online for $175. So I found the stones and I made it! An obsession was born. I am a stay at home mom and making jewelry and sewing has saved me (and maybe my kids). I love creating new and unique pieces. Almost every piece is one of a kind. You can find me sitting at my work table several times throughout the day making whatever creation is fighting to get out of my head. I have a relationship with every piece I make. I find myself utterly surprised when certain pieces don’t sell as soon as I list them.

SPRING 2012 Vendor Feature: FEATHERHEAD

Featherhead
shop | facebook

I fell in love with feathers a few years ago, and have kept the romance going ever since.  I never intended to start a little business of designing hair accessories, but I am so happy that my original “Hey, I think I can make that” thought has brought me here.   My goal has always been to create amazing, beautiful and unique accessories and wedding veils that don’t break the bank.   I believe that just because it is beautiful or well-made doesn’t mean it has to be expensive.

Get To Know Kate of Featherhead

What’s the #1 played song on your iPod? I don’t have an iPod (shocking!) but I do have iTunes and right now my number one most played song is a song called Nina by a French Band Presque Oui

What’s your favorite crafting snack? Is wine a snack?

Besides crafting, what other things do you like to do? Walk on the great Florida trails with my dachshund, Giglio

What are you most looking forward to about the Spring Homespun Chic Marketplace? Meeting the other vendors and introducing myself to this amazing community of artists. (oops, that’s two things)

What’s the last great movie you saw? Book you read? The Artist, twice.  So. Good.

What’s your favorite Central Florida Food Truck? All of them…..nom nom

SPRING 2012 Vendor Feature: HAPPY HANDMADE (BY JESS)

Happy Handmade (by Jess)
shop

Happy Handmade (by Jess) is the home of “unbelievadorable” crocheted creatures, or amigurumi. I have made over a hundred different amigurumi while running my Etsy shop and crafting blog, www.happy-handmade.com.  I love to watch lovable, squishy, adorable animals develop from a ball of yarn. I love that no matter how hard I try to make two identical creatures, somehow each one has its own personality. And I love finding fun ways to photograph them as much as I love making them! I hope my Happy Handmade creations make other people as happy a I feel having made them.

What’s the #1 played song on your iPod? The Story by Brandi Carlisle

What’s your favorite crafting snack? It’s tricky to snack while crafting! No salty or sticky fingers on my yarn! Sometimes I do have to take little snack breaks…especially if there are salt and vinegar kettle chips nearby.

What’s your favorite Central Florida attraction/landmark/sight? I love some of the lakeside parks, especially Lake Eola and Lake Lily on a beautiful day. I’m also a sucker for a trip to Disney World – my other passion besides crafting.

What’s your favorite Central Florida Food Truck? I love them all, but my favorite might have to be Big Wheel Provisions with The Batter Bowl Truck a close second. I had one of the best breakfasts of my life from the Big Wheel Truck!

If you had to only work on one project for the next year, what would it be? I would love to have the time to crochet a huge landscape scene complete with smiling trees, puffy clouds, flying birds and balloons, and picnicking foxes, raccoons, and bears. Then I’d photograph it!

SPRING 2012 Vendor Feature: CANDYLAND BOWTIQUE

Candyland Bowtique
shop | facebook

In 2009, God entrusted another precious child to me,  my daughter. I was thrown into a world of dresses, tights, pink things and BOWS! Candyland Bowtique grew out of my need to find something unique for my little girl to wear in her hair, not just a store-bought bow. It awakened the part of me I had somewhat lost during everyday motherhood. In August of 2009, Candyland Bowtique was born. Not only do I make your traditional bows, I specialize in creating sculpted bows. I think every little girl should be able to pick something fun and beautiful to put in their hair.

What’s the #1 played song on your iPod? Book of Love by Peter Gabriel!  I was introduced to this song when the finale of Scrubs aired.  I listened to it every night while I fed my daughter at 2am and have loved it ever since.

What is one of your favorite quotes, song lyrics or Bible verses? One of my favorite passages in the Bible is about the Proverbs 31 Woman.  I have always called her Ruby.  It ties in 10 virtues: faith, marriage, mothering, health, service, finances, industry, time and beauty. Some days, I feel as if I strike out on all of them.  Other days, I see it as an attainable goal!

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? I would love to learn to play the piano. Something past that little ditty you can play with your knuckles.

What’s your favorite Central Florida attraction/landmark/sight?  I would be lying if I didn’t say Disney.  I consider myself lucky to live so close to such a fun place.  Experiencing it through the eyes of my kids is amazing. It’s not always my kids racing to get in the lines. And now I cannot get the picture of Clark Griswold running to Wally World out of my head.

What are you most looking forward to about this spring’s Homespun Chic Marketplace?  Meeting the other vendors who are in the same realm as I am, stretched thin but loving it.  I also cannot wait to see some of my regular customers and meet new ones!

From making woven potholders when I was seven years old to getting caught up in the scrapbook craze in my college years, I’ve always enjoyed being crafty and creative.  After taking a class at local craft store with my dear friend Kimberly of whimZy, I embarked on a new adventure of creating and selling handcrafted jewelry and accessories.

While my shop’s name pays homage to my affinity for the French culture, my items reflect my eclectic taste. From more traditional beaded necklaces. earrings and bracelets to “upcycled” Scrabble Tiles and bottle cap pendants, my shop has something for everyone!

I am very excited to be participating my third Homespun Chic Marketplace!

Spring 2012 Marketplace :: May 6

Alright…2012 is here and it’s time to get ready for a Spring Marketplace!

The 2012 Spring Homespun Chic Marketplace will include approximately 45 vendors and feature the best handmade retail that Central Florida has to offer. The event will be held on Sunday, May 6 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at Home Builders Association of Metro Orlando in Maitland. The Marketplace will be held rain or shine.

If you’re interested in being a vendor, please contact us or leave a comment here with your email address. We’ll be happy to email you the details, instructions, etc as well as a layout of the building and porch. As spots are paid for, approved and taken, we will designate that appropriately on the map.

Previous vendors will benefit from a lower rate for space. New vendors will pay a higher rate for their first show with us and will also need to submit 3 photos of their work to a review panel.

All reservations will be considered in the order they are received–first applied, first approved, first paid. Although previous vendors will not need to be considered by the review panel, they will not receive preference over new vendors. Space will be filled on a first applied, first approved, first paid basis.

Other fun tidbits:

  • Once again, we’ll offer a way for folks to win gift certificates to be spent at the Marketplace. Details will be posted right here on our site.
  • We are working to secure two or three of Central Florida’s popular food trucks to sell yummy treats just outside the venue. We’ll announce those as they confirm with us.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please let us know! Feel free to share this with other handmade artisans that you know. We’re looking forward to partnering with you to bring the best of handmade retail to Central Florida through Homespun Chic Marketplace!

Max & Oli Kid’s Playhouse Coupon

Feel free to print this for Sunday. We’ll also have them available for you at the Marketplace. Check out Max & Oli’s website for more information about what they have to offer.
