Hi! Everything started two years ago when I was pregnant with my first baby. To make things fun and exciting, we decided not to find out the baby’s gender. Everybody was convinced that we were having a baby girl, especially my sister Marta. While waiting for “Veronica,” she decided to start making hairpieces for her new niece. And guess what… in November 2010 we were blessed with the arrival of our baby boy, Adrian! I was very impressed with her hidden talent and that is when I encouraged her to take her hairpieces to the next level. Today, we are Tika Confetti where you will find a variety of unique hairpieces that have been handmade with love for all ages. We hope you enjoy our hairpieces as much as we enjoyed making them for you. We look forward to seeing you at the Homespun Chic Marketplace! Marta & Adania

Spring 2012 Vendor Feature: SEW BLESSED BY DIANA

Sew Blessed By Diana
shop

My name is Diana Scianimanico and I am a 25 year old stay at home mom of two precious daughters. My oldest is five, and my youngest is two, and they are the biggest blessings God could ever give me. They are best friends, and they teach me so much about life, patience, and growth. My husband and I have been married 3 years and I could not ask for a better spouse. He is the rock of our family, and my best friend. I have been crafting for less than a year now. I guess I needed to find myself a little hobby once I quit working, and one day I decided to borrow my grandmother’s sewing machine. I guess the skill was in my blood, because a couple weeks later, I was self-taught and making tons of things for my girls and for around the house. It was later that I was led to open my own Etsy shop. I have not been very successful in the online selling, but I know once my name is exposed, the business will pick up. Sewing is really a hobby of mine anyways, and I do it just for fun! My specialty is the crayon roll. My girls were in desperate need for one of these, or should I say my purse and all of it’s contents were in need of one! I began making aprons after I developed an obession with buying them, and of course the sock monkeys were my children’s ideas. The first sock monkey I made has been fully loved on and has just reccently went in to surgery from excessive play! I also create children’s clothing from custom skirts, tailored pajama pants, and handmade graphic tees. My girls love all the fun stuff that they get when mommy has a creative burst of energy! I look very forward to being a part of this year’s Homespun Chic Marketplace, and it will officially be my first craft show! So please, stop on by, take a look around, and introduce yourself.

Get To Know Diana of Sew Blessed by Diana

What is one of your favorite quotes, song lyrics or Bible verses? 2 Corinthians 4:7-10 “But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.”

What’s your favorite thing about summer in Florida? Taking my girls to the beach! We love to take the 45 minute drive over to Melbourne and just waste the day away in the sun, sand and salt! I can’t think of a better way to spend time with my children.

What’s the last great movie you saw? Book you read? The movie Limitless starring Bradley Cooper. I can’t explain too much about it, but all I can tell you is it’s a must see! It’s probably my favorite movie of all time.

What’s the #1 played song on your iPod? Right now I am really into The Black Keys, Crash Kings, and my old-time favorite, Deftones. It really depends on my mood what I listen too. I have a different genre for every activity that I do on a daily basis. Heavy rock for long distance driving, smooth indie for cleaning the house, upbeat rock for running, and I confess I like to listen to European Indie/Folk when I need some chill time. I don’t think there is a specific song that is my number one, I like variety!

Spring 2012 Vendor Feature: Handmade by KP

Handmade by KP
shop | facebook

Hello! My name is Katie and I started Handmade by KP in the fall of 2011. I began sewing after I received my mother’s sewing machine as a Christmas gift and once I started sewing, I couldn’t stop. I’ve sewn everything from quilts to aprons to shower curtains. I love searching out cute and modern fabric and making highly functional items with a little flair. My little shop started as an outlet for my love for sewing, but has quickly become a source of great joy and passion.

Get To Know Katie of Handmade by KP

What’s your favorite crafting snack? I would say my favorite crafting snack is a glass of wine. I work a full time job, so I do most of my sewing in the evening. So, after dinner, I settle in with my sewing machine and my glass of wine. Great combo, right?

Besides crafting, what other things do you like to do? I love to read. Reading has been my sweet companion throughout my entire life. When my life is hectic, I know that I can always escape to my books. And because of this love for reading, I have an unnatural love for any and all book stores. The hubby has gotten tired of my dashing into book stores and then spending an hour searching for the right book to buy!

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? Speak Italian! It’s the language of my heritage and I think it’s beautiful! Now…if only I had the patience and the aptitude to learn!

What’s the last great book you read? A Thousand Splendid Suns, by Khaled Hosseini. Hands down. It’s a book of inner strength and survival. Tragic and beautiful. It is the best book I have read in years and it pierces the soul in a way that few books do.

What’s the #1 played song on your iPod? “I Lift My Hands” by Chris Tomlin

What is one of your favorite quotes, song lyrics or Bible verses?  “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”  2 Corinthians 4:16-18

What’s something you’ve done that you think no other vendor has done? Caught lobsters and then grilled them on the boat in the Bahamas. The best (and freshest) lobster I’ve ever had!
